2004
The hard cuts of the Gem collection are a departure from the soft forms
of the previous designs from Kate Hume.
Trails of clear glass are added
to the basic vessel shapes almost at random, and then cut and polished
to represent the crystalline magic of minerals and precious stones
often with surprising results.
Colours are also gem inspired rose quartz,
amethyst, and ruby, pyrite, cinnabar and aquamarine The Icon pieces are
oxidized, with the clear, cut glass emerging from a skin of bronze or gold.
